Yay! I'm quite happy at the moment. Borax does indeed preserve flowers nicely. The roses +Kyle gave me for Valentine's Day are now safely tucked away in a box lined with tissue paper. The edges of the petals are a little darker, but I really like the way it looks. The petals are supple, and the leaves fresh. They smell funny, though. :PPP

So yeah. Now I just need a black rose, and I'll be all set. Am thinking a dyed silk one will be my best bet.

How do you preserve flowers with borax?

Pour a little borax into a box or something, rest the flower in it, then cover the flower with more borax. Leave for a week, and voila!

The petals on the roses got a little crushed, but they're not bad - I think I poured too much borax on top of them. Too much weight.
